Sportel Monaco explores future of sports broadcasting

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

The 36th Sportel Monaco gathered sports and media professionals at the Grimaldi Forum from 19 to 21 October to discuss shifting viewing habits.

The Grimaldi Forum hosted the 36th edition of Sportel Monaco from 19 to 21 October, bringing together international figures from sport and media to debate how fans now watch competitions. Discussions centred on the move away from traditional broadcast schedules towards personalised viewing, with panellists noting that audiences increasingly choose how, when and on which platform they follow events.

For three days, rights holders, broadcasters and technology firms used the Grimaldi Forum's conference spaces to present new distribution models designed to meet this shift towards individualised consumption. The event has long served as a meeting point for the sports media industry, and this year's sessions focused heavily on how competitions can adapt their formats and rights structures to streaming and on-demand habits rather than fixed broadcast slots.

For Monaco, Sportel Monaco remains one of the Principality's recurring business gatherings, drawing an international delegation to the Grimaldi Forum each autumn and reinforcing Monaco's position as a venue for sector-specific trade events alongside its sporting calendar.
