A former Minister of State and the founders of the No Finish Line face a January ruling over a 2019 wave accident that left a participant disabled for life.
The appeal trial over a 2019 accident at the No Finish Line charity run concluded at Monaco's appeal court on 19 October. A former Minister of State, the founder of the No Finish Line and the Children & Future association, which organises the event, were all named in the case brought by Estelle, a participant swept away by a wave during the run and left with a permanent disability.
Estelle has spent years seeking clarity over who bears responsibility for the incident. "Ma vie a été gâchée," she told reporters outside court, meaning her life has been ruined by injuries that have never fully healed.
Judges reserved their decision and will deliver the ruling on 4 January. The outcome will be closely watched by organisers of charity sporting events along Monaco's seafront, where safety protocols near the water have faced renewed scrutiny since the 2019 accident.
