Monaco renews commitment to UN World Food Programme gender equality fund
The Principality has signed a two-year agreement supporting WFP initiatives promoting women's empowerment and equal access to food security.
The Principality has formalised a multi-year partnership with the United Nations World Food Programme, extending its support for gender equality initiatives through 2026-2027.
This renewed agreement builds upon Monaco's previous financial commitment to the WFP's gender-focused programmes, which work to ensure fair access to food security and nutrition worldwide. The initiative specifically targets structural causes of inequality whilst promoting economic and food empowerment for women and girls in vulnerable communities.
The Monégasque contribution forms part of a dedicated trust fund that enables the World Food Programme to integrate gender equality considerations across all its humanitarian interventions. This approach recognises that addressing hunger and malnutrition requires tackling the underlying social barriers that disproportionately affect women and girls in crisis situations.
Through this partnership, Monaco continues to demonstrate its commitment to international development goals, particularly in areas where gender inequality intersects with food insecurity and humanitarian need.
