Roca Team fights to survive with CNOSF appeal

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

French champions AS Monaco Basket are pursuing a last-ditch appeal before the CNOSF within a fortnight, contingent on securing the funds needed for the club's survival.

French basketball champions AS Monaco Basket are not finished yet. The club, facing the very real prospect of dissolution, has lodged a final appeal with the CNOSF - the French National Olympic and Sports Committee - and expects a ruling within the next fifteen days. The outcome will determine whether the Roca Team continues to exist in any form.

The catch is money. The appeal can only succeed if the club simultaneously secures emergency funding to demonstrate financial viability. Without it, even a favourable ruling at the CNOSF would be an empty victory. Club officials are understood to be working against the clock to identify investors or creditors willing to commit before the deadline.

For Monaco residents who have followed the Roca Team through their Betclic Elite title-winning campaigns, the situation is sobering. The club has been one of the Principality's most visible sporting institutions, filling the Salle Gaston Médecin on Avenue des Castelans and representing Monaco at the highest level of European competition. Whether that continues beyond this month remains genuinely uncertain.
