Princess Stéphanie visits new shared care home in Monaco

Two residents have moved into Monaco's new Unité de vie partagée, a shared home designed to bridge the gap between independent living and residential care.
Princess Stéphanie visited the new Unité de vie partagée on Monday, touring the facility in Block A of the Hemera development. She was accompanied by Christophe Robino, the Government Councillor overseeing the project, as she met the two residents who have already settled into the shared home.
The unit offers an alternative for Monaco residents who no longer wish to live entirely alone but are not ready for, or do not need, a full care home placement. Each resident has private living space within the shared home, while communal areas and on-site support staff provide a level of assistance and companionship not available in a standard apartment.
The launch reflects a wider push within Monaco to expand housing options for an ageing population, particularly for those with family or social ties to the Principality who want to remain close to familiar surroundings. With only two residents currently in place, officials are likely to monitor demand closely before deciding whether further units of this kind will be developed within Hemera or elsewhere in Monaco.
