Only Project brings global research elite to Monte-Carlo Bay

By Laurent Duval, MonacoViews Editorial

The Monaco-based Only Project foundation gathered leading international researchers at Monte-Carlo Bay on 16 and 17 April 2026 to advance the fight against Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

Monte-Carlo Bay hosted two days of high-level scientific exchange in April as Only Project, formerly known as the Association Monégasque contre les Myopathies, convened some of the world's foremost researchers working on Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The April gathering marked a significant milestone for the foundation, which has grown from its Monégasque roots into a recognised force in international medical research.

Central to this year's programme was the integration of the first recipients of the "Bourse des Pionniers et Pionnières", a new funding award designed to back the most promising investigators in the field. The prize represents a concrete commitment of resources to researchers at the frontier of Duchenne treatment, signalling that the foundation is moving beyond advocacy into active scientific patronage.

Only Project has positioned Monaco as a meaningful address in the global effort to find a treatment for this degenerative muscle condition. With clinical trials and fundraising also on the agenda, the April meetings suggest the foundation intends to accelerate both the scientific and financial infrastructure needed to bring therapies closer to patients.
