Monaco renames digital body as permanent state function

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

The Principality has reclassified its digital transition unit as a standing interministerial delegation covering technology across government.

The Délégation Interministérielle chargée de la Transition Numérique, known as the DITN, has been renamed the Délégation Interministérielle au Numérique. The change marks a shift in how the Princely Government views digital policy, moving it from a temporary transition project to a permanent function within the state apparatus.

Minister of State Christophe Mirmand explained the reasoning behind the move, stating that digital technology is no longer a transition but an essential function of the state and a lever for transforming how public services operate. He added that it sits at the heart of continuity and quality of public service, as well as the security and sovereignty of the Principality.

For residents and businesses dealing with Monaco's administration, the restructuring signals that digital services, from online procedures to data security, are now treated as core infrastructure rather than a side initiative. The renamed delegation will continue to oversee the state's technology strategy under its new mandate.
