'Mémoire des lieux' exhibition opens at Quai Antoine Ier

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

A new exhibition exploring Monaco's changing urban landscape runs until 24 January 2027 at the Quai Antoine Ier exhibition hall.

The Direction des Affaires Culturelles has opened 'Mémoire des lieux' at the Salle d'exposition du Quai Antoine Ier, a show running until 24 January 2027 that examines what remains when buildings vanish and the city reshapes itself. Curated by Célia Bernasconi, Director of the Institut du Patrimoine, the exhibition brings together works tracing the Principality's architectural and urban history.

For residents who have watched entire blocks disappear and reappear over the past decade, from La Condamine to Fontvieille, the show offers a rare chance to see that transformation framed as cultural memory rather than simple construction news. It also signals the Princely Government's continued commitment to documenting Monaco's heritage even as building projects push the skyline in new directions.

The exhibition is free to visit and sits within walking distance of the port, making it an easy stop for anyone exploring the Quai Antoine Ier area this autumn and winter.
