Monaco ratifies OECD tax cooperation convention

By Alexandre Morel, MonacoViews Editorial

Prince Albert II has signed Monaco's ratification of the Convention on Mutual Administrative Assistance in Tax Matters, delivered formally to the OECD in Paris.

The Minister of State travelled to the Château de La Muette in Paris, the OECD's historic headquarters, to hand the ratification document directly to Secretary General Angel Gurría. Signed by Prince Albert II, the instrument confirms Monaco's formal commitment to the Convention on Mutual Administrative Assistance in Tax Matters. The Government Counsellor for Finance and Economy accompanied the Minister of State for the handover.

The Convention now counts 107 participating jurisdictions, including all G20 members. For Monaco, joining this framework represents a significant step in the Principality's ongoing alignment with international tax transparency standards, reinforcing its standing with partner governments and multilateral institutions that have long scrutinised the tax arrangements of small financial centres.

For residents and businesses operating in Monaco, the ratification signals continued regulatory integration with the broader European and international financial order. It follows a pattern of treaty commitments the Principality has steadily accumulated over recent years as it works to demonstrate cooperative governance on cross-border tax matters.
