Monaco rallies for Colombia earthquake victims

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

The Association Monégasque Ibéro-Américaine has released €5,000 in emergency funds as the Monegasque Red Cross opens a public donation appeal following the 10 August earthquake in Colombia.

Two of Monaco's most active humanitarian organisations have moved quickly to support victims of the earthquake that struck Colombia on 10 August 2026. The Association Monégasque Ibéro-Américaine (AMI) has already released €5,000 from its funds, with representatives confirming the money is ready to be transferred to relief efforts on the ground.

The Monegasque Red Cross has also launched a public appeal for donations, calling on residents and the wider community to contribute. The two organisations are acting independently but share the same urgency, reflecting the close ties Monaco's expatriate Latin American community maintains with the affected region.

For Monaco's ibéro-american diaspora in particular, the response has become personal. AMI has long served as a focal point for Colombian and broader Latin American residents in the Principality, and members have been in direct contact with families in the disaster zone. Anyone wishing to donate through the Monegasque Red Cross can do so via its official channels.
