Monaco associations raise €11,200 for Venezuela earthquake victims

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

Monaco-based charities including Caritas Monaco, the Red Cross and the AMI have mobilised funds for communities hit by the June earthquakes in Venezuela.

Several Monaco-based associations have joined forces to support victims of the earthquakes that struck Venezuela on 24 June, with relief efforts now extending to Colombia following its own deadly seismic event. The Association Monégasque Ibéro-Américaine (AMI) and the Coopération Monégasque au Développement have together transferred €11,200 to affected communities, while Caritas Monaco and the Monegasque Red Cross have also collected and forwarded donations.

The response reflects a long-standing connection between Monaco's South American expatriate community and the Principality's established humanitarian network. Both the AMI and Caritas Monaco have previous experience coordinating relief to Latin America, and the speed of the mobilisation suggests those channels remain well organised. The total figure is expected to rise as collection efforts continue.
