AS Monaco to cut ties with Paul Pogba after fresh injury

The club has decided to terminate Paul Pogba's contract, with a financial settlement to be agreed before the 1 September transfer window deadline.
Paul Pogba's short spell at AS Monaco is set to end before it properly began. The club had already decided to terminate the World Cup winner's contract before he picked up a left thigh injury during the first group training session of the pre-season camp in England on Tuesday morning.
The two parties must now reach a financial settlement before the transfer window closes on 1 September. Pogba, who joined the Principality club amid considerable fanfare, leaves having been unable to establish himself in first-team contention.
The departure will prompt questions at Stade Louis II about the club's recruitment strategy, particularly the cost of unwinding a high-profile contract mid-window. AS Monaco's sporting directorate will need to move quickly if they intend to reinvest the freed-up wage budget before the deadline.
