Monaco Mairie renews sustainable catering certification

The Mairie de Monaco has renewed its Mon Restau Responsable guarantee, reaffirming its commitment to reducing food waste and increasing plant-based meals in communal catering.
On 10 September, the Mairie de Monaco formally renewed its Mon Restau Responsable certification at a public session held in the Salle du Conseil, with Deputy Mayor Marjorie Crovetto, who holds responsibility for Living Environment and the Environment, presiding over the ceremony.
The Mon Restau Responsable framework is a French-originated label that commits institutional canteens and collective catering operations to measurable targets across three areas: sourcing more plant-based dishes, cutting food waste, and improving the overall sustainability of supply chains. For the Mairie, renewal of the guarantee signals that its communal restaurants - serving municipal staff and associated services - have met or maintained those benchmarks since the initial certification.
For residents, the practical significance lies in the Principality's continued push to align its public institutions with broader environmental commitments. The Mairie is among a small number of local authorities in the region to hold this certification, and renewal confirms the programme is embedded in day-to-day operations rather than a one-off initiative.
