Monaco joins Europe's Waste Reduction Week for eighth time

Monaco will take part in the European Waste Reduction Week for the eighth consecutive year, and is calling on local project leaders to register initiatives.
The Principality will once again take part in the Semaine Européenne de la Réduction des Déchets, the continent's largest awareness campaign on waste prevention, marking Monaco's eighth consecutive year of involvement. The Monaco Government has issued a call to local businesses, associations and residents to put forward projects and events that support the campaign's goals.
The SERD campaign is built around the '3R' rule of refuse, reduce and reuse, which has been expanded in recent years to '5R' with the addition of recycle and return to earth. The aim is to engage both economic operators and the wider public in practical steps to cut waste at source rather than simply managing it after the fact.
This year's edition places particular emphasis on more considered material consumption, encouraging households and organisations in Monaco to focus on what is genuinely needed to live well and to rethink how resources are used and shared. Those wishing to take part are invited to register their initiatives with the relevant Monaco Government department ahead of the campaign dates.
