Monaco joins European Waste Reduction Week for 8th year

Monaco is taking part in the European Week for Waste Reduction for the eighth consecutive year and is calling on local project organisers to get involved.
The Principality is once again joining the Semaine Européenne de la Réduction des Déchets, Europe's largest awareness campaign on waste prevention, marking its eighth year of participation. The Monaco Government is now inviting businesses, associations and individuals with relevant initiatives to register their projects and take part in the week's programme of activities.
The campaign centres on the '3R' principle, refuse, reduce, reuse, with an extended '5R' version also promoting recycling and returning organic matter to the earth. This year's edition focuses on more considered material consumption, encouraging residents and companies to think carefully about what is genuinely needed rather than accumulating for its own sake, and to organise daily life and business practices around that principle.
For residents and business owners in Monaco, the week offers a practical opportunity to showcase or discover local waste reduction efforts, from repair workshops to reuse schemes, that fit within the Principality's wider environmental commitments. Those wishing to contribute a project are encouraged to come forward ahead of the campaign dates.
