Monaco backs UNESCO heritage reform at 48th Committee session

Monaco's delegate voiced support for a new reform plan at the UNESCO World Heritage Committee's 48th session, held in South Korea in July 2026.
At the 48th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, Monaco's representative Séverine Dusaintpère took the floor to endorse a package of reforms designed to strengthen the Committee's strategic role, expertise and operational capacity. She also acknowledged the World Heritage Centre's ongoing work to support states that remain absent or under-represented on the World Heritage List.
The session opened on 19 July in the presence of South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and UNESCO Director-General Khaled El-Enany. Monaco's participation underlines the Principality's continued engagement with multilateral cultural diplomacy, an area where it punches well above its size on the international stage.
