Monaco adds 2,800 jobs in H1 2026 as revenues fall

IMSEE's latest Quarterly Economic Report shows private-sector employment hit 69,529 in the first half of 2026, even as foreign trade and business revenues declined year-on-year.
The Principality's private sector created 2,795 jobs in the first six months of 2026, pushing total employment to 69,529 and marking a 4.2 per cent rise on the same period last year. The figures come from IMSEE, Monaco's statistics and economic studies institute, in its latest Quarterly Economic Report covering January to June 2026.
The employment gain is a notable headline, but it sits alongside a more mixed picture. Several key indicators, including foreign trade volumes and overall business revenue, posted year-on-year declines compared with the first half of 2025. The divergence between a growing headcount and falling revenues will be watched closely by investors and property owners whose returns are tied to the health of Monaco's commercial base.
The IMSEE report offers one of the clearest periodic windows into the Principality's economic performance, drawing on data from employers registered in Monaco rather than broader regional estimates. The full breakdown by sector has not yet been released, but the top-line figures suggest that hiring momentum has so far outpaced any slowdown in trading conditions.
