Yacht Club de Monaco hosts sixth sustainable marina summit

The Yacht Club de Monaco welcomed delegates from 28 countries this week for the sixth Monaco Smart & Sustainable Marina Rendezvous, a gathering focused on the technology and infrastructure that will shape marinas over the coming decade. The event, held in the days before the Monaco Yacht Show opens at Port Hercule, was organised by consulting firm M3 Monaco and drew engineers, port operators and equipment manufacturers working on cleaner energy systems and improved security for berthing facilities.

Discussions centred on practical upgrades already being tested or rolled out at marinas around the Mediterranean, from shore power systems that reduce reliance on generators to digital monitoring tools that help operators track water quality and vessel movements. For Monaco, where Port Hercule and Fontvieille handle some of the busiest superyacht traffic in Europe, the ideas presented have direct relevance to how the Principality manages capacity and environmental standards as demand from larger vessels continues to grow.

The timing, just ahead of the Yacht Show, meant many of the same industry figures who will be walking the docks later this week were already in Monaco discussing the infrastructure decisions behind the scenes. It underlines the Principality's position not just as a showcase for yachts themselves, but as a meeting point for the people deciding how the ports that service them will be built and run.
