Mairie marks 10,000th Monégasque on nationality roll

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

The Mairie de Monaco celebrated a historic milestone this summer with the 10,000th registration in its nationality roll, marked by a reception attended by Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene.

The Mairie de Monaco has recorded a milestone in its civil status registers this summer, with the 10,000th Monégasque entered into the sommier de la nationalité. The register, maintained by the Service d'État Civil-Nationalité at the Mairie, tracks every person formally recognised as holding Monégasque nationality since records began.

To mark the occasion, a reception was held on Wednesday 30 September in the Salle des Mariages at the Mairie. Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene attended the ceremony, underlining the significance the Palace places on nationality and belonging within the Principality.

For residents and long-term families in Monaco, the nationality roll carries weight well beyond paperwork. It underpins rights tied to housing priority, civil service access and a range of benefits reserved for Monégasque citizens, making each entry in the register a marker of the Principality's small but closely tracked national community.
