Six days before their Conference League play-off first leg in Poland, AS Monaco were beaten 2-0 by Coventry in their final pre-season outing.
Six days before travelling to Górnik Zabrze for the first leg of their UEFA Conference League play-off, AS Monaco rounded off pre-season with a 2-0 defeat to Coventry on Friday 14 August. The result will raise eyebrows at Stade Louis II, with the Polish vice-champions representing a genuinely competitive early-season hurdle.
The performance gave little cause for optimism. Monaco offered almost nothing going forward and were repeatedly exposed in behind their defensive line, a pattern that will concern the coaching staff ahead of a tie where away goals and transitions are likely to prove decisive.
With the first leg in Zabrze set for Thursday 20 August, Monaco have limited time to sharpen a system that looked short of both cohesion and attacking ideas in Coventry. How quickly they respond will set the tone for the Principality's European ambitions this season.
