Chef Yannick Alléno received the special jury prize at the Trophées du Club Eco Monaco for his two three-Michelin-starred restaurants at the Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo.
Yannick Alléno picked up the special jury prize at this year's Trophées du Club Eco Monaco, an awards evening organised by the Monaco Economic Board and Groupe Nice-Matin to recognise businesses and individuals who have shaped the Principality's economic life. The chef was honoured for the two restaurants he has developed at the Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo, Pavyllon Monte-Carlo and L'Abysse Monte-Carlo, both now holding three Michelin stars.
For a hotel on Square Beaumarchais that has long anchored Monte-Carlo's dining scene, the double three-star status places the Hermitage among a small handful of addresses worldwide with two restaurants at that level under one roof. Alléno's presence has become a fixture of the Principality's culinary landscape since Pavyllon and L'Abysse opened, drawing diners who might otherwise have looked to Paris or the Riviera's other grand hotels.
The award reflects a wider point about Monaco's economy that the Club Eco Monaco evening is designed to highlight, that hospitality and gastronomy remain among the sectors doing the most to keep the Principality visible on the international stage, alongside finance, yachting and property.
