Yacht Show traffic: government vows no complacency

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

Despite notable improvements in 2026, National Council members are urging the government to renew talks with the show's new organisers.

Traffic around Port Hercule during the Monaco Yacht Show has long frustrated residents, with queues building along Quai Albert 1er and spilling back towards Avenue de la Costa as exhibitors, staff and visitors converge on the port each September. This year's edition brought measurable changes, with revised signage, adjusted bus routes and earlier coordination with the show's new organising team helping to ease some of the worst bottlenecks reported in previous years.

Elected members of the National Council say the gains are not sufficient and have called on the government to sit down again with organisers before the 2027 edition to address remaining pinch points, particularly around access to La Condamine and the Port Hercule roundabout. A government spokesperson responded that officials are "not resigned" to current disruption levels and remain willing to negotiate further adjustments with the event's management.

For residents living near the port, the annual show means weeks of restricted parking, rerouted deliveries and longer journeys to reach Monaco ville or the Larvotto side of the Principality. With the organisers now in their second year running the event, the National Council's push suggests further changes to traffic management, rather than a settled arrangement, are likely before next autumn.
