Two jailed after ketamine found at Monaco flat

A Monaco court handed custodial sentences to two people in their late twenties on Friday 21 August 2026 after ketamine was found at a residential address in the Principality.
A criminal court in Monaco sentenced two defendants, both aged under 30, to immediate custodial terms on Friday 21 August after prosecutors established that ketamine had been possessed and consumed at a private flat within the Principality. The case centred on an incident at the home of one defendant's mother, where the pair had been together when the drug was discovered.
Despite what the court described as compelling material evidence, both individuals denied having consumed controlled substances on Monégasque soil. The tribunal rejected that defence and found the charges of possession and consumption of narcotics proven against each of them.
The verdicts are a reminder that Monaco's courts treat drug offences with consistent severity, regardless of the quantities involved or the domestic setting in which they occur. For residents, the case underlines that private addresses within the Principality offer no legal shelter from the Principality's narcotics laws.
