Tuiga wins class at Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez after refit

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

Tuiga, the Yacht Club de Monaco's flagship, has won her class at the 28th Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez just over a year after being dismasted at sea.

Tuiga, the 1909 cutter that serves as flagship of the Yacht Club de Monaco, has taken victory in her class at this year's Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez, one of the Mediterranean's most watched classic yachting regattas. The result caps a swift recovery for the vessel, which was dismasted at sea in August 2025, an incident that threatened to keep her out of competition for an extended period.

Instead, the YCM's technical and sailing teams had Tuiga back on the water and competitive within little more than a year, a turnaround that will be noted with some pride along the quayside at the Yacht Club's La Condamine base. For a yacht of her age and historical standing, built in 1909 and still raced in earnest against modern classic fleets, returning to winning form after structural damage is no small achievement.

The win adds another chapter to Tuiga's long competitive history and reinforces Monaco's profile in the world of classic yacht racing, a scene where the Principality's own vessels are watched closely by owners and collectors across the Mediterranean circuit. Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez, now in its 28th edition, draws some of the most significant historic and contemporary racing yachts each autumn, and a Monaco victory there carries weight well beyond the Var coastline.
