Thomas Pesquet Takes 1,000 Monaco Residents to Space

European Space Agency astronaut Thomas Pesquet filled the Rainier III Auditorium for a sold-out talk hosted by the Monaco Méditerranée Foundation.
The Rainier III Auditorium was at capacity on Thursday evening as Thomas Pesquet, France's most celebrated astronaut, invited an audience of more than 1,000 people to join him on a journey to the International Space Station. The event, organised by the Monaco Méditerranée Foundation, drew one of the largest crowds the auditorium has seen for a science-themed public lecture.
Pesquet, who has completed two long-duration missions for the European Space Agency and logged over 400 days in orbit, structured his talk as an immersive experience rather than a conventional conference. Footage from his time aboard the ISS, including sweeping views of the Mediterranean coastline from above, gave the audience a visceral sense of life beyond the atmosphere.
The Monaco Méditerranée Foundation has built a reputation for bringing figures of international standing to the Principality on themes connecting science, environment and human endeavour. Pesquet's appearance fits squarely within that mission, and the turnout suggests strong appetite among Monaco residents for events that go beyond the Principality's more familiar cultural and sporting calendar.
