Stelios Foundation raises €610,000 for Mediterranean protection

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

The Monaco-based Stelios Foundation has donated €610,000 to WWF International and the Prince Albert II Foundation for marine conservation work.

The Stelios Foundation, headquartered in Monaco, has handed over €610,000 to support Mediterranean conservation efforts, with the sum split equally between WWF International and the Prince Albert II Foundation.

The donation adds weight to the Principality's long-standing role as a hub for marine environmental funding, with the Prince Albert II Foundation having backed sea protection projects across the Mediterranean basin for years. For residents and property owners along the Monaco coastline, the gift reinforces the link between the Principality's identity and the health of the waters it borders, from the Larvotto marine reserve to wider regional conservation schemes.

Neither foundation has yet detailed how the funds will be allocated between specific projects, though both organisations have previously prioritised marine biodiversity and pollution reduction initiatives in Mediterranean waters.
