The Garden Club de Monaco's second annual window-dressing competition brings spring florals to Principality shopfronts from 4 to 10 May.
From 4 to 10 May, a stretch of Monaco's commercial streets is looking decidedly more colourful than usual. The Garden Club de Monaco has launched the second edition of its Monaco en Fleurs competition, challenging local retailers to dress their windows in spring blooms and botanical themes.
Shopkeepers across the Principality have thrown themselves into the brief with considerable imagination, turning their façades into seasonal displays that go well beyond a bunch of flowers in a vase. The competition rewards creativity as much as horticultural knowledge, and this year's entries suggest the format has found its audience among Monaco's retail community.
For residents, it gives the weekly routine of errands and shopping a noticeably different atmosphere — the kind of small, place-specific initiative that distinguishes the Principality's calendar from larger cities nearby.
