SBM launches disciplinary action over Le Grill drinking incidents

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

The Société des Bains de Mer has opened disciplinary proceedings against several Le Grill staff after an internal probe found repeated alcohol consumption during working hours.

The Société des Bains de Mer has confirmed disciplinary proceedings against a number of employees at Le Grill, the rooftop restaurant at the Hôtel de Paris, following an internal investigation into repeated drinking during shifts. According to SBM, staff were found to have consumed alcohol belonging to the establishment while on duty over a period of several weeks.

The Hôtel de Paris sits at the heart of the Casino Square, and Le Grill is one of its signature dining venues, known for its retractable roof and views over Monte-Carlo. Any internal disciplinary matter at one of SBM's flagship properties draws scrutiny given the group's role as the Principality's largest employer and a listed company with close ties to the state.

SBM has not named the employees involved or specified how many staff face action, and the investigation's findings have not been made public in full. The outcome of the proceedings, and whether any dismissals follow, will be watched closely given the group's standing as custodian of some of Monaco's most recognisable hospitality addresses.
