Slovenian cycling champion Primoz Roglic will start the 2026 Vuelta a España in Monaco on Saturday 22 August, less than a month after being struck by a car during training.
Primoz Roglic will take his place at the start line of the 2026 Vuelta a España this Saturday when the race rolls out of Monaco, in a remarkable recovery from a training accident that left his participation in serious doubt. The Slovenian was hit by a car fewer than four weeks ago and his presence at the Grand Départ had been far from certain in the days following the incident.
The Vuelta's Monaco start gives the Principality a rare moment at the centre of road cycling's calendar, adding to a summer already rich in major sporting occasions. For residents, the Grand Départ will bring road closures and large crowds to the areas around the start zone on Saturday 22 August.
