Prince Albert II opens new Crèche Ida with 30 childcare places

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

Prince Albert II and Princess Charlène inaugurated the new Crèche Ida at the Hémera residence, adding 30 childcare places for Monaco families.

Prince Albert II and Princess Charlène officially opened the new Crèche Ida on Monday, housed within the Résidence domaniale Hémera. The facility adds 30 new childcare places to the Principality's public early years provision, addressing a persistent demand from resident families for places close to home.

The inauguration was attended by Minister of State Christophe Mirmand, Mayor Georges Marsan and Nathalie Vaccarezza, the Communal Councillor delegated to the Petite Enfance et Familles service, alongside members of the Communal Council. The presence of both the sovereign couple and senior government figures underlines the priority Monaco places on expanding childcare capacity as part of its wider family support policy.

For parents on waiting lists across Monaco's crèche network, the opening at Hémera offers a concrete increase in available places rather than a promise for the future. The residence itself, part of the state's domanial housing stock, now combines family accommodation with dedicated early years facilities on site.
