By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

The Princely Palace has confirmed the royal couple will travel to Oslo on Wednesday to pay their respects to King Harald V of Norway, who died on 28 August aged 89.

Prince Albert II and Princess Charlène will represent Monaco at the state funeral of King Harald V of Norway in Oslo this Wednesday, 10 September. The Princely Palace confirmed the couple's attendance on Monday, marking one of the most significant royal occasions in Europe this year. King Harald, who reigned for 33 years, died on 28 August at the age of 89.

As a mark of respect, flags on public buildings throughout the Principality will fly at half-mast on the day of the funeral. The gesture reflects the close ties between Monaco and the Norwegian royal house, and follows established protocol for the passing of a fellow European monarch.
