Port Hercule works begin on 2,500m² platform for F1 future

Construction has started on a 2,500 square metre platform in Port Hercule to secure the long-term future of the Monaco Grand Prix.

Construction work has begun in the waters of Port Hercule on a new concrete platform covering around 2,500 square metres, designed to guarantee the future staging of the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix. The project was confirmed by the Monaco government this week, following comments from Automobile Club de Monaco president Michel Boéri, who first revealed the plans in Monaco-Matin.

The new platform will sit within the harbour, reinforcing the infrastructure used each May for grandstands, paddock facilities and spectator areas during the Grand Prix weekend. Officials say the structure will also serve other major events held in the port throughout the year, extending its use well beyond the three days of racing.

For residents and businesses around Port Hercule, this means a period of works affecting the quayside before the platform becomes operational, though the government has not yet given a completion date. The move underlines the Principality's determination to keep hosting the Grand Prix on its traditional street circuit, with the port remaining the logistical and spectator hub for one of the world's most watched motor races.
