The Prince's Palace is illuminated in red on 1 September to mark Septembre Rouge, Monaco's annual campaign raising awareness of leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma.
The Prince's Palace was lit up in red on the night of 1 September as the Principality launched its participation in Septembre Rouge, the international awareness campaign dedicated to blood cancers. Leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma are among the conditions highlighted during the month, diseases that remain poorly understood by the wider public despite the significant toll they take.
September's campaign focuses not only on diagnosis and treatment awareness but on the critical need for blood, platelet and bone marrow donation. Bone marrow transplants in particular depend on a large and diverse donor register, and organisers are using the month to encourage Monaco residents to consider registering as donors.
For anyone living or spending time in the Principality, the campaign serves as a practical prompt. Donation registration is open to adults in good health, and information on how to join the bone marrow donor register is available through the relevant health authorities. The Palace illumination is one of several visibility actions planned across Monaco throughout September.
