Monaco scraps windscreen sticker in 2027 registration renewal

The Principality's annual vehicle registration campaign, which opened on 1 September, replaces the physical windscreen stamp with a new attestation document.
From 1 September 2026, vehicle owners in Monaco will notice a significant change to the annual registration renewal process. The physical sticker that has traditionally been affixed to number plates is being abolished, replaced by an attestation that serves as proof of valid registration for 2027.
The move is part of a broader modernisation programme by the Princely Government to simplify administrative procedures around vehicle licensing. Last year saw the first step in that process, when the year marking on plates was removed. This latest change takes the reform a stage further.
For the roughly 35,000 vehicles registered in the Principality, the practical implication is straightforward: owners will no longer need to apply a physical stamp to their plate during the renewal window. The attestation replaces it as the valid document to hold. Residents should ensure they complete their renewal through the appropriate government channel before the campaign closes.
