New knights and ladies invested at Monaco Cathedral

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

Archbishop Dominique-Marie David invested new knights and ladies of the Holy Sepulchre order during a ceremony at Monaco Cathedral on Saturday.

Monaco Cathedral hosted a solemn investiture on Saturday 17 October, as Archbishop Dominique-Marie David welcomed new knights and ladies into the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. The ceremony, held within the Rocher's principal place of worship, formally admitted the new members to an order whose origins trace back to the medieval guardianship of Christian sites in the Holy Land.

The Order of the Holy Sepulchre maintains a presence in Monaco through a local chapter of members who support its charitable and pastoral work, which includes funding for churches, schools and humanitarian projects serving Christian communities in Jerusalem, Bethlehem and the wider Holy Land. Investitures of this kind are infrequent in the Principality and typically draw clergy, diplomatic figures and members of the local Catholic community to the Cathedral, which also serves as the resting place of Princess Grace.
