New Exhibition Charts the Evolution of Monaco's Stamp and Coin Museum
A special exhibition from March to April 2026 will trace the transformation of Monaco's original monetary museum into today's Museum of Stamps and Coins.
A fascinating exhibition opening next spring will reveal the little-known history of Monaco's first monetary museum and its transformation into the current Museum of Stamps and Coins. Running from 25th March to 26th April 2026, the display has been developed in partnership with the Prince's Palace.
The exhibition will showcase the remarkable philatelic and numismatic collection assembled by Prince Rainier III, highlighting his passion for collecting and his visionary approach to preserving Monaco's monetary heritage. As both a dedicated philatelist and forward-thinking sovereign, Prince Rainier III played a pivotal role in building the prestigious collection that forms the museum's foundation today.
Visitors will gain insight into how the original monetary museum gradually evolved over the decades, adapting to become the comprehensive institution that celebrates both Monaco's postal and monetary history. The exhibition promises to shed light on this often-overlooked chapter of Monaco's cultural heritage, revealing the personal dedication behind one of the principality's most distinctive museums.
