Nearly 200 pedigree cats compete at Fontvieille show

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

The ninth International Cat Show drew close to 200 pedigree cats from 27 breeds to the Fontvieille Marquee for a weekend of judging and exhibitions.

The Fontvieille Marquee played host to Monaco's ninth International Cat Show over the weekend, with breeders and owners bringing nearly 200 pedigree cats from 27 breeds to compete in the Principality's long-running feline beauty contest. Doors opened at 10am on both Saturday and Sunday, running through to 6pm, giving visitors two full days to wander the stands and watch the judging rounds up close.

The show has become a fixture on Monaco's autumn calendar, drawing exhibitors from across the region who travel with their cats for the chance to be assessed against breed standards by accredited judges. For residents, it offers a rare opportunity to see rarer breeds up close, from Maine Coons to Sphynx cats, in a setting far removed from the Principality's usual rounds of motorsport and finance.

Events like this one add to Fontvieille's growing role as a venue for community gatherings beyond its marina and football stadium, giving the district a different kind of weekend crowd.
