Nazinho at fault again as AS Monaco lose 1-0 at Lorient

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

Flavio Nazinho was again exposed at a corner as AS Monaco slipped to a 1-0 defeat away at Lorient on Sunday afternoon.

AS Monaco's away struggles continued at the Stade du Moustoir, where a single goal from a corner condemned Philippe Clement's side to defeat against Lorient. For the third time this season, after similar lapses against Toulouse and in the Europa League tie with Levski Sofia, Flavio Nazinho was the defender beaten in the build-up, leaving questions over his positioning at set pieces.

Further forward, the picture was equally frustrating. Monaco's attacking players struggled to find any rhythm against a well-organised Lorient defence, with few clear chances created despite spells of possession in the second half. The result leaves the club with work to do in training this week as they look to tighten up defensively before their next fixture.

For supporters following the Rouge et Blanc from the Rocher, the recurring issue at corners will be a particular concern heading into a demanding run of matches. Clement is expected to address the defensive set-up in the coming days as Monaco look to arrest a worrying pattern before it costs them further points.
