Monaco's new judicial training institute holds first graduation

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

The IMFPJ has awarded certificates to 82 participants who completed an eight-month programme in Monegasque law, marking the institute's first cohort.

The Institut Monégasque de Formation aux Professions Judiciaires held its inaugural certificate ceremony this week, recognising 82 participants who completed an eight-month course in Monegasque law. The event marks a concrete step in the Principality's effort to build domestic legal expertise and professionalise its judicial workforce.

The programme was designed to deepen participants' understanding of Monaco's distinct legal framework, which draws on both French civil law traditions and locally specific statutes. Graduating 82 candidates from a first cohort is a meaningful result for an institution that is still establishing itself within Monaco's professional training landscape.

For residents and property owners, a stronger local judicial profession matters in practical terms. Disputes over contracts, tenancy, inheritance and property rights in Monaco are governed by Monegasque law, and a better-trained pool of legal practitioners should, over time, improve the quality and consistency of proceedings in the Principality's courts.
