Monaco's Meerkats complete Rose Trek across Morocco

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

A Monaco-based charity team of 466 took part in a three-stage desert orienteering event in Morocco, raising funds for families in Lebanon.

The Monaco Meerkats have returned from the Moroccan desert after completing the Rose Trek, a gruelling fundraising challenge that brought together 466 participants for three days of orienteering across roughly 20 kilometres of terrain. The event, held during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, combined physical endurance with a cause close to many in the Principality, raising money to support children and families in Lebanon.

The Meerkats have built a reputation locally for taking on demanding overseas challenges in the name of charity, and this latest trek adds to a growing list of fundraising expeditions tied to Monaco's resident community. Teams navigated the stages using compass and map skills rather than GPS, a format designed to test both fitness and problem-solving under pressure.

For residents who follow the group's activities, the Rose Trek reinforces Monaco's quieter tradition of grassroots charity work that operates well beyond the Principality's borders. Details on how to support future Meerkats expeditions or donate to the Lebanon fund are expected to follow through the group's usual community channels.
