Monaco tightens single-use plastic rules for food outlets

New regulations from the Direction de l'Environnement came into force on 1 September 2026, extending Monaco's restrictions on single-use plastics across food and drink businesses.
From 1 September 2026, the Princely Government has imposed stricter controls on single-use plastics in Monaco's restaurants, cafés, takeaways and food retailers. The new rules, enforced through the Direction de l'Environnement, build on an earlier measure introduced in 2016 and tighten what operators are permitted to provide to customers.
The move is part of Monaco's broader environmental programme and will affect any commercial food outlet in the Principality. Business owners who have not yet reviewed their packaging and service materials will need to act promptly, as the regulations are already in effect.
