Monaco sets up new body to steer state digital strategy

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

A newly formed interministerial delegation will oversee the Principality's digital services, with artificial intelligence strategy for the administration among its first tasks.

Monaco's government has moved beyond a transitional phase in overhauling how it manages digital services, with the creation of a new interministerial delegation dedicated to the sector. The body replaces the previous transitional arrangement and will take responsibility for coordinating digital policy across ministries and departments, rather than leaving each entity to manage its own systems independently.

One of the delegation's first mandates is to draw up a strategy for artificial intelligence within the Monegasque administration, addressing how AI tools might be adopted across public services. The move reflects a broader push by the Principality to modernise state operations and bring digital governance under a single coordinated structure, rather than the fragmented approach of recent years.

For residents and businesses dealing with Monaco's administration, from property registrations to municipal services, the shift signals a push towards more joined-up digital systems. The delegation's work on AI strategy will be watched closely, given the implications for how quickly and efficiently government services can be delivered going forward.
