Monaco launches new body to oversee digital strategy

A new Interministerial Delegation for Digital Affairs begins operating on Monday, reporting directly to the Minister of State.
A Sovereign Ordinance published in this week's Journal de Monaco confirms the creation of the Interministerial Delegation for Digital Affairs, which takes up its functions on Monday, 5 October. Ordinance No. 12.143 places the new body under the direct authority of the Minister of State, signalling that digital policy is now being treated as a government-wide priority rather than a matter for individual departments.
The delegation will be responsible for coordinating how the State manages its digital infrastructure, public services and data across ministries, a task that has previously been handled in a more fragmented way. For residents and businesses, this centralisation could mean faster progress on initiatives such as online administrative services, cybersecurity standards and data governance, areas where Monaco has signalled ambitions to keep pace with larger European neighbours.
The move follows a broader pattern of the Principality consolidating oversight of strategic sectors under direct Ministerial control, reflecting the scale of investment and coordination now required for digital transformation. Further details on the delegation's staffing and specific remit are expected as the new structure becomes operational this week.
