Monaco landmarks turn pink for breast cancer awareness drive

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

Pink Ribbon Monaco will illuminate the Principality's landmarks in pink on Saturday 3 October to launch this year's Pink October campaign.

Monaco's skyline takes on a rose hue this weekend as Pink Ribbon Monaco kicks off its annual Pink October campaign on Saturday, 3 October. Landmarks across the Principality will be lit pink after dark, a visual signal that has become a fixture of the association's awareness drive each autumn.

The campaign arrives with a sobering reminder: breast cancer remains the most common cancer among women worldwide and the leading cause of cancer death, affecting roughly one in eight women during her lifetime. Pink Ribbon Monaco uses the month to push early screening, working alongside local health services to encourage women in the Principality to book mammograms and clinical checks rather than delay them.

For residents, the lit-up buildings are more than decoration. They mark the start of a month of events, information stands and fundraising activity designed to keep screening uptake high in a community where access to care is rarely the barrier, awareness and follow-through often are. Details of specific locations and accompanying events are expected to follow from the association in the coming days.
