Monaco issues heat safety alert as summer temperatures arrive

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

The Monaco government is urging residents to take precautions as the first significant heat of summer 2026 sets in across the Principality.

Authorities in Monaco have issued a public health advisory as temperatures rise sharply, warning that prolonged exposure to heat can lead to dehydration and heatstroke, both of which can become serious without prompt action.

The alert identifies the most vulnerable groups as infants, young children, pregnant women, older residents and those living with chronic illness. However, the advisory is clear that healthy individuals are not exempt: athletes, outdoor workers and anyone spending extended periods in the heat are equally at risk and should take appropriate precautions.

Residents are encouraged to stay hydrated, avoid outdoor exertion during peak afternoon heat, keep living spaces cool and check on neighbours or family members who may be more exposed. Anyone showing signs of heatstroke should seek medical attention immediately.
