Monaco government websites down since 21 October, no cyberattack

By Zak Jackson, MonacoViews Editorial

Official Monaco websites including the mairie and Espace Léo Ferré have shown maintenance messages since 21 October, with cybersecurity authorities confirming it is a preventive measure rather than an attack.

Visitors to the mairie de Monaco's website, the gouvernement princier's online portal and the Espace Léo Ferré page have been met with the same notice since Tuesday 21 October: "Site en maintenance". The outage has prompted questions among residents and businesses who rely on these platforms for administrative services and event information.

The Agence monégasque de sécurité numérique (AMSN) has confirmed there is no cyberattack behind the disruption. Instead, the agency says the simultaneous maintenance is a precautionary step, part of a wider pattern affecting similar institutional sites beyond the Principality's borders. The timing has coincided with global concerns over software vulnerabilities that have prompted administrations elsewhere to take similar protective action.

For Monaco residents who use these portals to book venues, check municipal announcements or access government services, the outage means falling back on phone lines or in-person visits for the time being. No timeline has been given for when the sites will return to normal operation, though the AMSN's intervention suggests the Principality's digital infrastructure is being treated with the same caution as larger neighbouring states.

The episode underlines how closely Monaco's public services now sit within broader European digital security frameworks, where a single vulnerability alert can ripple across borders and take down multiple official platforms at once, regardless of whether any actual breach has occurred locally.
