Monaco's Department of International Cooperation marked the progress of the J-MED youth programme on Friday, October 9, reporting 110 funded projects and over 12,800 direct beneficiaries across the Mediterranean.
The Department of International Cooperation (DCI) brought together funding partners and civil society representatives on Friday to review the results of J-MED, the joint Monaco-France initiative supporting young people and grassroots organisations across the Mediterranean region. Officials confirmed that since its launch the scheme has backed 110 projects and reached more than 12,800 direct beneficiaries, figures that mark a significant scale-up for a programme still relatively young in its lifecycle.
Four associations selected under the 2026 edition were presented at the gathering, giving a sense of where this year's funding is being directed. For Monaco, the programme forms part of a wider foreign policy focus on Mediterranean cooperation, channelling resources toward youth employment, education and civil society capacity-building in partner countries.
The review comes as the DCI looks to build on momentum ahead of future funding rounds, with partners expected to assess which project categories deliver the strongest outcomes per euro committed. For residents following Monaco's international development work, the figures offer a rare concrete benchmark against which the Principality's soft-power ambitions in the region can be measured.
