More than 300 firefighters from 62 teams will compete in a rope-climbing challenge at Fontvieille on Saturday, open free to the public from 8am.
The Corps des Sapeurs-Pompiers de Monaco will stage a rope-climbing challenge at the Chapiteau de Fontvieille on Saturday 31 October, bringing together more than 62 teams and some 300 participants. The event gets under way at 8am and runs free of charge, with the public invited to watch firefighters race against the clock and each other.
Teams will be judged on how many ropes they can climb within the time allowed, a drill that reflects the physical demands and technical skill required in the brigade's daily work. For residents, it offers a rare close-up look at the training behind the emergency response teams who serve the Principality, away from the usual context of an incident.
The Fontvieille marquee, easily reached on foot from the Port de Fontvieille and nearby residential blocks, will be open to spectators throughout the morning. Families living in the district can expect a lively but orderly scene, with competing teams likely to include colleagues from fire services across the French Riviera.
