Yacht Club de Monaco member Boris Herrmann has departed New York aboard the new IMOCA Malizia 4, racing more than 3,000 nautical miles to Lorient in The Ocean Race Atlantic.
Team Malizia left New York on 6 September carrying Monaco's flag into The Ocean Race Atlantic, a new transatlantic contest that will take the crew across more than 3,000 nautical miles to Lorient on the Brittany coast. The campaign marks the debut of Malizia 4, the team's latest IMOCA 60, built to compete at the highest level of offshore racing.
Skippering the boat is Boris Herrmann, the German offshore specialist who sails under the Yacht Club de Monaco pennant and has become one of the most recognisable figures in the Principality's maritime world. American sailor Cole joins Herrmann among the crew for the crossing.
The race adds another chapter to a partnership between Team Malizia and Monaco that has grown steadily through Herrmann's Vendée Globe campaigns and Ocean Race programmes. For the Yacht Club de Monaco, which has championed sustainable offshore racing through its support of the project, the Atlantic start represents a fresh competitive milestone in the 2026 season.
