Maillot's 'Vers un pays sage' joins Paris Opera repertoire

Jean-Christophe Maillot's 1995 Monte-Carlo ballet Vers un pays sage will enter the Paris Opera's repertoire this autumn at the Palais Garnier.
Jean-Christophe Maillot, director of Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo, is set for a first at the Palais Garnier as his work Vers un pays sage joins the Paris Opera's permanent repertoire this autumn. The 28-minute piece, created in Monte-Carlo in 1995, will feature in the company's Paysages intérieurs programme, marking a significant recognition for the choreographer who has led Monaco's ballet company since 1993.
The move places Maillot alongside the small group of choreographers whose work has entered the Paris Opera's repertoire from outside its own house productions, a distinction that carries weight in the international dance world. For Monaco, it reinforces the reputation Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo has built over three decades under his direction, from the Salle Garnier in Monte-Carlo to the world's leading stages.
